About Our Candles
natural coconut wax candles
Coconut wax is made from a blend of hydrogenated coconut and vegetable oil. The coconut wax we use for our scented container candles is made here in the USA. The coconut oil used to make our wax comes from an organic US supplier that imports from the Philippines and Dominican Republic. Our coconut wax is biodegradable, all natural and free of paraffin.
natural rice bran wax & coconut oil
Terralite’s new Pillar and Tealight candles made from pure rice bran wax and organic coconut oil. We spent two years developing a candle wax that could be made from sustainable sources, was non-hydrogenated, GMO-free, with no animal, soy, paraffin, or palm wax.We discovered the beauty of rice bran wax – a by-product of filtered rice bran oil. Getting the wax is much like clarifying butter and removing the fat, expect to filter rice bran oil you must cool it to seperate the wax from the oil. We blend our own fair trade and organic coconut oil to soften the wax and increase burn time. The result is a new type of candle wax, one that burns as long, if not longer than beeswax. To take things one step further, we created our own reusable tealight tins made from recycled steel as an alternative to disposable aluminum and plastic tealight cups. Each one can be refilled or reused for many years for the least impact on our environment. The Rice Bran Collection, our patent pending, exclusive in-house candle wax blend is now available on our online store.
pure essential oils
We use organic, wildcrafted, pure essential oils and extracts from plants that were grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. We believe it’s important to not only use the purest of ingredients but also source them from companies that provide a fair trade to farmers.
chemical-free hemp wicks
Our hemp wicks contain absolutely no lead, are not chemically treated, and are braided with pure unbleached cotton.
Our containers are made from 99% recycled glass and recyclable tinplate. Our custom reusable tealight tins are made from recycled steel! Glass is the big one though as it takes the combination of soda, sand, lime plus a lot of heat to melt raw materials into glass. Once glass is created it will essentially always be glass and can take up to 1 million years to biodegrade.
unbleached linen bags
A simple and natural solution for packaging is our unbleached linen bags. Linen is made from the flax plant and is reusable and biodegradable. Our bags are perfect for holding fruit and vegetables, growing or storing herbs, or storing items during travel.
recycled hemp labels
Our labels are made from 100% recycled hemp, including the string! Each one is hand stamped with sealing wax made from natural plant resins. The whole thing is completely biodegradeable.
PCW shipping boxes & biodegradable taping
We ship our products using boxes and kraft paper made out of 100% recycled, post-consumer waste. The packaging tape we use is a cellulose film derived from wood pulp that decomposes naturally in soil.
